Supplements For Health: The Reason We Use Supplementation To Support Health Goals

Medication is very important. They have their place in the world of heatlh.

And they are very, very different compounds than supplements.

Medications are drugs that are defined as substances intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent disease.

Supplements are not defined as substances intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent disease. Supplements are products taken orally for supplementing the diet. They are concentrated parts of food, such as Vitamin C, Fish Oils, etc.

The challenges with many drugs are the side effects. A brief review of drugs that are caught up in class action lawsuits (short list here) can give you some insight into the scope of the problem.

We are fans of supplements in general, but not all supplements. There is a class of supplement that can only be provided directly through a healthcare provider that requires certain standards to be met in processing and labeling. We use those types of supplements in our Functional Medicine protocols.

The main reason we use supplements is because we see them working for our patients. If we didn’t have all the incredible feedback and stories from our patients regarding the results they’ve achieved, we wouldn’t recommend supplementation.

We have also seen very few negative side effects when a patient tries a supplement. We believe that the body is able to heal itself if given the chance, and sometimes that chance may come through taking a mineral or vitamin that a patient lacks in their normal diet.

TAKEAWAY: The definition of Functional Medicine that we use is “A Nutraceutical and Lifestyle Approach to Preventable Disease”. This is why we utilize Supplementation to support health goals.
